Getting Stronger Everyday

Quinn and Carter are now good at sitting in their Bumbo seats, as well as holding their heads up during tummy time. Both of them are able to flip from their tummy to their back, with Quinn leading the way... she is able to flip from her back to her tummy! It's all happening so fast!

We have a thumb sucker!

For those who know our little Quinny, they know that she is quite the binky queen. Well she now has something besides her binky to entertain her... her thumb! Glamma Gannon was babysitting the twinnies yesterday and made the big discovery. What's next!?

First Ferry Ride

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in the Seattle area and our good friend, Bryan was coming over to visit me and the kids. He had a great idea (planted by his wife Amber) :), to take advantage of the sunny day and take a ride on the ferry. I LOVED the idea, as I enjoy getting out of the house as much as possible these days. So, I packed up Quinn and Carter along with all their neccessities and we walked onto the ferry with their Uncle Bryan. It was gorgeous out; we could see Mt. Baker, the Olympics and a hazey Mt. Rainer, plus the downtown cityscape. Once we arrived at our destination, which was Kingston, we went to lunch, caught up with one another and let the kids entertain us. We then went for a walk down by the beach and checked out the new boardwalk that is being built. Once the next ferry arrived, we hopped on and headed home. All in all it was a fabulous day out in the sun with good friends!

First family trip!

Over President's day weekend, we loaded up the kids and Ellie into the car and headed to the Ocean... we decided on Longbeach, WA. Once we were finally on the road, Shane and I were feeling pretty good and excited for the adventure... as we were about 2 to 3 hours in the kids decided that they were hungry, so we pulled off in Montesano, WA. We pulled up to a big gas station with the usual amentities... Shane and I both did our thing, as well as let Ellie do hers, then proceed to get hot water from the gas station beverage area... realizing that everything we needed was packed all over the car in different bags (what are we new!?), we the then got settled in the car, Shane in the driver seat feeding Carter, while I was in the passenger seat feeding Quinn, all the while Ellie was whinning like crazy as she wanted to be hanging in the front seat too... let the fun begin. Once they were done eating Shane and I smelled some serious poo, so I arranged a make-shift chaning station in the passenger seat, while Shane enterntained the kids and Ellie. I took each kid, separatley of course, to change them, while I was standing with the door open (did I mention it was pouring down rain!)... finally got them changed and settled and hit the road. Needless to say, we learned quite a bit from that first "on the road" feeding and diaper changing adventure.

Once we arrived and checked into our little bungalow, we onloaded what seemed to be a months worth of stuff and got settled. We then took a nice walk on the beach and let Ellie "get her beans out" as my nephew Jace likes to say, and then headed back to the bungalow. Well, Shane went through all this trouble to find accomodations that were private and didn't involve bothering or interrupting other people on vacation, so we thought great, the bungalow will do... however, we soon discovered that the bedroom shared a wall with the bungalow next to us and that people were staying there... and guess what happend next... The Quinn and Carter Show!!! They cried and cried and cried and cried... we were ready to pack our bags, pack the car up and head home, but we didn't. The kids finally chilled out and we were able to enjoy a nice meal and watch a movie. The rest of the weekend was wonderful with beautiful weather, with a few minor hiccups here and there, but we made it work and were glad we did! Oh, and no one complained to us about the crying.

Fast Forward to 12 to 14 weeks!

Well the twinnies have now reached some amazing milestones (they will be 15 weeks this coming Thursday, 2.26) and they are both doing great at holding their head up, holding on to toys and spazing out, chatting up a storm, laughing and giving the biggest smiles ever! Quinn can also roll over from her tummy to her back... let it begin!

Carter is still having some acid reflux and tummy problems, as well as possible teething. He is a lot to handle at times, but he is a trooper and always works it out with the help of me and Daddy the soothing king (I swear, Shane has this magic touch when it comes to soothing the kids).

Quinn, as I mentioned above, starting to "roll" and changing her diaper can be a bit hard sometimes these days. She is a HUGE binki fan and loves to be with people... if she is left in a room for a second alone, she let's you know! She has also started an incredible routine of sleeping all night, yes ladies and gents, I said ALL night (7:30ish p.m. to 6ish a.m.) in her crib all by herself. Carter is still in our room, as he still wakes up for feedings in the middle of the night and then has to be burped and then sleeps in his MacLaren to stay inclined due to his reflux. We will be receiving the second crib soon and will eventually introduce Carter to his own digs, but will keep the mattress at an incline until needed.

Christmas 2008

Christmas was a special one this year as we had the twinnies to celebrate and start new traditions. We also enjoyed a white Christmas, which NEVER happens in Seattle!

Well, here we are... we went from Shane and Kathy to a family of 4... Quinn and Carter have now entered the picture. Here we go with the parent thing!!! This was taken at the hospital when they were 3 days old.
